Foggy morning

We had the Devil's Hole part of the river all to ourselves again today.
It has been closed off to traffic.  We think because
people go there to have parties or
congregate.
So those who want to walk in, can.
Today it was foggy and muddy.
We now have stricter lockdown rules.
Only 2 unrelated people together (social distancing)
and recommended stay inside
except for essential shopping, Dr appointments or exercising.

Less traffic but
the road trains are still going through town.

Sign of the Times Sunday...

On the way to the river, we stopped to refuel the car.  This sign was on the pump.

This sign was on the closed gate.

You know what that means

We had the place all to ourselves!

No SUVs
No KFC/McDonald's rubbish
Just us.....

And the River Monster just keeping its head above water.
 And some pelicans

And those noisy cockatoos.

Stay safe, friends.

Friday Nature (sort of)

and a mystery!!

Last week SHE read that you can cut the bottom
off a celery bunch, put it in water and it would
grow again.
So SHE tried it with Bok Choi
Look, it's only been a week:

We think this counts as nature.
And this, we found a little duck family today.
An Autumn hatching.

And the mystery?
When SHE returned from shopping today,
SHE found this in the study.
A chewed container that had

 contained  meat for the magpies.
When SHE left is was on the kitchen bench
the meat was gone.....
and there were three short-legged, innocent-looking dogs!

Wednesday Walk

Trying to beat the storm.....
We had the Police Paddock all to ourselves today.
Dui made it the whole way around off-lead because there was no one on the Sports Ground...…..

 Or calves in the pasture.
But there was thunder rumbling in the distance.
 We had to hurry
To beat the storm.

Social Distancing

Ignore the mess and look out the door.
Do you see Dui social distancing from us?

We've finished our 'after river' snack and we want to come in.
But Dui is out on the patio...... suspicious!

He has been itchy recently.
We think it may be some plant at the river.
Anyway, he has a bi-carb soda dunk when we come home.
Usually it is ready before we leave for the river
and Dui is carried directly from the car,
or  tricked and trapped later.
Today, the tub was filled while he was eating his snack.
So he didn't want to cooperate.

Later he was  tricked and trapped.
It does work.  He hardly scratches, and no skin inflammation.

(Stan and Murphy's mother said, she had Dunkin' Donuts
and we have Dunkin' Dui.)

Thankful Thursday

We're thankful for crackers that can be spread with devilled ham--

and break evenly into four pieces,

so SHE can even have one, too.

Today is a down day.

Beware the Ides of March....

March 15th

Happy Birthday, Macdui!!!

Six years old today.

During the week a package came.
SHE thought it was something for herself,
BUT,
it was a birthday present for Dui
all the way from Princess Leah in the UK.

Princess Leah found scotty fabric and had her Lady-in-Waiting (mum) make a special blanket
 for our  birthday boy.
Isn't is gorgeous?
If you know the Princess you know the card would have
butterflies...BOL!
Thank you so much, Princess!!
You've made this an extra special birthday...

Blogger Blues...

Firstly, this is the photo of Dui and the pelican that didn't show up yesterday.

In trying to make a slight correction in the writing,
blogger didn't change the correction.
After several tries, the whole post was deleted
and written again correctly.

Naturally, blogger didn't delete the original post
from the reading list.
However, the second attempt looked okay from our end.
Everything looked fine, but most comments said the
picture didn't show up.

We just looked again, and the picture is missing.
Blogger has been doing some strange things recently,
such as making one or two lines black and a smaller font.

Don't know what's going on....
Hope it cooperates this time.

Tasty Tuesday

This is how our morning started:
The moon accompanied us on our Early Morning Walk.

On our second walk we went to the river.

Tasty new grass.
Then a bit of duck stalking.

Hope you have a great Tuesday.

Green....green....green

No, not St Paddy's Day green.....

Nature's Green.

We had rain ALL DAY last Thursday.
We didn't have ANY walks.
We had 51.4 mm--not a flooding amount--just steady rain.
Here are some random photos
Our puddle is HUGE.

Looking across the river

We're nearly covered.

Amazing, that just a bit of rain has got rid of that brown,
straw-like grass.

Not something you see every day...

...unless you are us.

Can you see it?

It's a junk yard goat.
We don't know if it's as mean as a junk yard dog,
but it does keep the grass and weeds in check.

Dr Seuss Day

Dr Seuss's poem gave fame to that cat,
That cheeky, troublesome Cat in the Hat.

He wrote the poem in humorous verse,
But we know cats are really a curse.

We've heaps of cats living in our 'hood,
Like the Cat in the Hat they're up to no good.

Family cats, feral cats--all colours and sizes
Obvious to us, that's it's rules they despises.

They sneak into gardens they wouldn't dare in the day
Places where Dogs REIGN and generally play.

Howling, meowing, yowling at night
Invading our gardens spoiling for a fight.

They leap over fences and wall with ease,
Ignoring good manners--doing just as they please.

They're cheeky and rude and troublesome like that
And not one of those cats ever wears a hat!

cats of Aoshima Island as an example

Happy Birthday (anyway), Dr Seuss
Not really your fault we have cats on the loose.
