It's 2011 here everyone!

Hope Everyone has a Healthy, Happy and Prosperous  Year!

Last day of 2010

Today was the last day of the year.  We got up early and headed to the river for a walk to investigate the path to our favourite beach.
The river, though still high, is back to where it's supposed to be.  But it left lots of stuff around.  The fence looks like it has been woven!
Some places the fences are down and here some poor farmer's hay bales have been taken down river and dumped here.
When we got to our favourite beach, it was still under water and the footbridge was covered with trees.
Someone told us they're expecting another flood in January, so aren't doing a big clean-up.  We've been VERY lucky as lots of towns have really been flooded out!
Nothing for it, but to head back to the picnic area and car.  Then we came home to hibernate.  We're finally having some summer weather.  It was just over 100 today.  We stayed inside with the air conditioning.  Tonight we'll stay in, because we don't like the noise!

A Sur-prize!

Today we got a package from Jazzi.  It was our prize for our (Inter)National Taco Day post.  We had help opening it. But something smelled soooooooooo wonderful, I nearly pushed it off the verandah in haste.
The others are standing back because I growled they know I'm the best at opening packages.
Homemade cookies.  When those came out, there was a free for all.  SHE was in the mix trying to share them equally.  They were gone in seconds!
Bella grabbed the tissue wrapped package, flipped out the taco decoration and tried to eat it!
SHE put it on our little tree for now.....but we're not packing it away with the other decorations.  We'll find a special place to display it during the year.

A big thank you to Jazzi, for the great prize AND introducing us to Tacos!

HER new trick!

Daisy...............Bella

Bella and I have been training HER.
Every night Bella goes into the garden, finds a frog and harrasses it until it makes a high-pitched, clicking sound. (She hates that.)
When I hear the sound I run and stare at HER.....sometimes giving my attention growl.
Now Bella can only be enticed away from the frog with a treat.  So SHE starts yellin', "Wanna a treat? (or cheese)"
Bella leaves the frog and we all get a treat while she shuts the door.
Took awhile, but SHE's finally got it!

Our Christmas present

We got this Zu Zu Pet for Christmas.
 It runs around.
And makes lots of squeaky noises.
And by Christmas night, it was missing.
Any ideas?

Sandy Paws Came!

 Merry Christmas, everyone!
Sandy Paws has been to our house!  At least we think it was him, we were asleep and it could have been Alien.
Look at all this great stuff he left on our floor:  pigs' ears, roo chews, poo bags (?), lamb delites, rawhide chews, and Puppy Patisserie biscuits!  He also left some new balls, a collar and lead for Kendra because Bella wrecked her other ones.
AND

Have you worked out what it is yet?
This little critter that runs around and makes lots of noise.
We know some of you have hours to wait for Sandy Paws, but we wanted you to know that he made it safely to our house. (Gee, we hope we didn't get too much and there's some left for you.)
Now we're off for our early morning walk...some things never change.  Then we'll have lambshanks while SHE goes out for the day.  Have a fantastic day, everyone!

We gotta surprise!

Yesterday, a package arrived with OUR names on it! It wasn't really for us.  We'd ordered some special treats for our friends Marli and Millie for Christmas.  But we got to open it.  AND.......
Right on the top were three little packets of Christmas bones....
With our names on them......from the lady at The Puppy Patisserie!
Once we got a whiff of those special treats. There was no way we were going to wait for Christmas!  We gobbled them up straight away!  It was such a nice surprise!
We hope Sandy brings us some more.

This morning

Things are getting back to normal after the flooding.  This morning we went to get HER cappuccino.  The container, coffee shop was back.  Then we went to the river.  It's nearly back in the right spot.  But it's left lots of mud.
This viewing platform was completely submerged.  Sandy Beach on the other side is sort of back.  We think they'll have to rename it "Muddy Beach".
This bench was completely covered too.
Of course, everything else is a vibrant green and full of scents.
We had a great time sniffing everything.
Even Kendra got excited and went into the tall grass.

A Christmas Poem

Christmas Eve, twenty-ten, was soggy and  wet.
We were up late, but no Sandy Paws yet.

'I thought he'd be here by now!' Daisy cried.
'It's way after one,' Kendra sadly replied.

'I was hoping for treats, I've been good all year.'
'Me, too', said the others hoping Sandy could hear.

But scanning the sky they could only see cloud.
'I hope he remembers us', Bella said out loud.

The rain poured heavily and pounded the roof.
No way could they hear a reindeer hoof.

'Looks like we're forgotten this year--it's too wet.
It's raining too hard for Sandy, I bet.'

So the sad, little scotties went off to bed,
When a strange, whirring sound could be heard overhead.

They ran to the window and what did they spy?
Something shiny and silver hovering up in the sky.

Daisy screwed up her face and squinted her eyes.
'It looks like a spaceship', she said in surprise.

Then suddenly in the lounge room appeared,
A small, green fellow with big eyes and no beard.

It was Alien, my friends, he was helping Saint Nick
Whose sleigh was stuck in mud too thick.

Alien'd told the old man, as he picked a bag up,
I'll deliver this stuff to every good pup.

Sandy held  a paper clutched tight in his fist,
And Alien reached out for the important list.

Then away he flew in his super space ship
With turbo reindeer--just right for this trip.

He criss-crossed the skies to deliver his load
Making stops at each house along every road.

He'd promised to visit all of the streets
To leave the good animals toys and treats.

He was a bit behind schedule in this wild Christmas race,
By the time he arrived at the scotties' place.

Explaining what happened, he sent them to bed.
Then filled up their stockings with presents, and fled.

As they drifted to sleep for the rest of that night.
They heard him yell out, 'Merry Christmas! Sleep Tight!'

Gripe of the week!

I've been cranky all week.  I'll tell you about it.  Last Sunday was a beautiful day, glorious weather.  We were all sitting outside while SHE read.  Soon the smell of bacon came wafting over the fence.  The people next door were cooking their breakfast outdoors.  Let me tell you that bacon smell was fantastic.  So fantastic that SHE went inside and cooked some bacon to make a bacon sandwich.
AND do you know what WE got?  Zilch.  Nada.  Nought.  Zero.  A BIG NOTHIN'!
I've been thinkin' about that ALL week.  Do you think it was fair?
Thanks for lettin' me vent.

Bella's favourite television ad

We're posting this ad today because SHE is being slack thinks it's funny that Bella loves to watch it.  When the music starts, Bella instantly becomes alert and takes up position in front of the television.  She tries to catch the little, shy wombat.

Bella hides

Bella spent much of the day, hiding in the bushes to avoid our amorous visitor!
I know you're in here somewhere!

He missed me!

A visitor

On the weekend, we visited our friend Millie.  When we came home, we found this handsome fellow hanging around our house.  If you look closely you can see that his left paw is deformed.  We don't know if it was an untreated broken foot, or birth defect.  However, he was very thirsty and hungry.  So we invited him in.

Once he had a long drink and some food, he was ready for play.

We raced around.  As you can see, his tail was docked.  This is illegal in Australia.

His bumble foot certainly didn't slow him up at all.

Unfortunately, he became very excited at being around us girls, so we had to be separated.  We couldn't find his family or anyone who knew him, so today the RSPCA came to take him to the shelter.

We hope he can find a family soon.  He was a lovely boy--just too big for our little garden AND too amorous for us girls.

We've got mail!

AAAAArrrrroooooooo!  I smell cookies!

Our Christmas pressie from Bella and Ollie arrived!  We were soooooooo excited because we've NEVER had a parcel before.......just.......for......us!
WOW  look at all this good stuff!  Now open those cookies, please!
Look at all this great stuff--especially the cookies.  BUT we weren't allowed to eat them all.  We could only have one each. (Whose present is this anyway?)
Hey look, there's Jazzi and Maggie Mae and Oskar!
It's raining again, so it was a great time to stay in bed and look at Bella's book.  She looks so cool in all her outfits.  I like the artist one, Bella likes the 'Little Red Riding Bella' picture, and Kendra likes the chef.  Kendra is always thinking about food.
This pizza squeaks!
There was also this pizza piece to play with.  It has a very loud squeak!
You've had it long enough, it's my turn!  You hafta share!
And there was a card with Bella on it with a special note to us.
Thank you Bella and Ollie!
