Our Zoo...

Many of you know that we have a zoo just down the road from us.
It is an open-range, breeding zoo.
Breeding animals that are endangered.

Years ago when the perimeter fences were put up,
some of the native species were fenced in, where they thrive.
So our African Savannah exhibit has

a local flair.

It's Happening.....

SPRING!
Our Magnolia has come

And gone.
Our Jasmine is in bloom....and the anonymous white bush.
Some of the grevilleas are just starting and the anonymous daisy-like bush.
The weeds at the river.
Gumnuts.
The birds are pairing up and looking for homes.
Sulfur crested cockatoo checks out a dead tree.
If you look very closely, you can see some ducklings.

Though we've had a few cold nights, Spring is definitely here.

Monday Mischief....

Do we need to explain?
Just look at that face...
It was in the tree just over our back fence,
and SHE made us come in, out of the rain.
Then Dui cried for an hour because he couldn't
go out!
Mischief?  We think not.

That was last night.
This morning SHE had one of her 'what could be easier' thoughts.
We went to the river early 6:15a.m. for a leisurely stroll around the track before anyone else arrived.
Suddenly, a truck loomed up from the beach.  Dui chases
trucks...when he can.
Luckily, SHE caught him and put him on the lead.
Because when we looked behind us, we were being followed!
A horse and a pony!
 Naturally, we barked....
And chased them....all over the reserve...(becoming deaf.)
Our friends Flash and Buddy arrived, and SHE caught us when we took time out to say 'hi'.
SHE scrapped the walk and we went down to the beach, but those horses followed us again.  SHE got us on leads again, but Dui got loose.  Luckily, the pony was bomb proof, or he might have a caved in skull!
Shortly afterwards the horses were caught, and we had to be on leads again because we had to go passed them--we only had two leads so Bella was free.  The Ranger told HER that we should be on leads all the time, but SHE told the Ranger it was a lead-free area.
The young Ranger looked it up and appologised.

All this before 7:15 a.m.  SHE's been muttering all morning
about why anyone in her right mind would have terriers.
(We think that says it all.)

Brands...

When we had the Blogville Rodeo, Sarge made us this wonderful brand.
But, I Roxy,  have come up with a more personal brand.
I leave my brand on everything....
 the couch
 Clothes,
 Afghan
 jacket
 Cushion
 Her warm, throw rug
 Dog-walking jumper.
I brand everything with my white hair.

SHE just loves it.....

Tasty Tuesday

Things are getting a bit slack around here....

SHE used to make us bone-shaped treats.
Then, to save re-rolling all the left over dough several times and being left with little bits,
SHE just rolled out the dough and cut out
rectangular shapes.
BUT
this time,  SHE just rolled the dough into
a log, refrigerated it...

 And sliced it!

Look, they aren't even proper circles.
Oh well, they're still pretty good
and as this is easier, maybe we'll get more.

Monday Mischief.....

Sorry, no photos for this story.

Sunday morning, after the river walk, we started barking.........
and barking......and barking....
SHE looked out the window and noticed a woman encouraging a very large, pitbull-type dog to walk passed us.
We were lured into the backyard with treats--we were stopping anyway.

Re-enactment of barking at the gate.

SHE ran out front to tell the woman it was okay, the FEROCIOUS dogs were in the back, only to find the woman struggling to carry the huge puppy passed our driveway!  BOL!

We were just warning everyone that there was a strange dog in the street, but SHE says it was mischief.

However,  we think SHE is the mischief maker because
six years and ONE WEEK ago, Bella came to live here!

SHE forgot Bella's Gotcha Day this year!

OMD! We just heard...

Some of Frankie and Ernie's Mom's Snowfreaks
escaped during their MOVE
and are wreaking havoc around the world!
We thought we'd be safe in Australia...
BUT look, they've changed Qantas from
the flying kangaroo to the flying Snowfreak!

We think there were quite a few on the jet because some are in the Blue Mountains playing on the Three Sisters.
 They've hijacked cars....and Snowfreaks can't drive...
They even took the XPT Train to....
They're crazy.....

And they don't MELT!
We'll try to round them up and sent them to PA!

Walks...

The River means a 'dirty walk'.
Dui tries to get Pi to bite his neck.
The mud at the river seems to be clay and will not brush out.
 It requires a dunking.
Our neighbourhood walks are 'clean walks.'

Notice Spring flowers!

We do like both walks.....but a 'dirty' walk is our favourite!
These photos were taken between 6:15 and 6:30 a.m.
The sun is coming up earlier.

Friday Fracas...

You might have guessed from the title that there would have been a cat involved.
This is Roy--mocking us through the window.

He's one of the Front Yard Cats....from Across the Street!
He usually hides out in the stormwater drain.
Come out, Roy.  Here kitty, kitty.
This morning was Roxy's turn to go to the vet's.
We all went, so we could have a run afterwards.
Roxy's way ahead on the left.

Anyway, just as were jumping into the car to head to the vet's
(gate open) who should race by across the street.
Yep, it was that sneaky Roy.
We were off!
We chased him through several yards and treed him!
This is the tree!  You'll have imagine three savage dogs barking and jumping and racing around the base.
When SHE was finally  able to subdue us (with treats)
and put leads on us, we headed to the vet's and the park.
After all that time, who should STILL be sitting in that tree?!

Yep, that sassy cat, Roy!
Dogs rule!
(Oh, and Roxy is healthy, with great teeth, clean skin and ears!
Also, inoculated against the nasty diseases for another year.)
