Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!
It's just after midnight, we've watched the
fireworks safely on television
and we're going to bed.
We wish everyone all the best for 2020!

Goodbye Old Year

New Year's Eve (day).  We're about to go to the river to have a repeat of yesterday....
Bella

Dui

Roxy
Although we don't a repeat of this:
A bit hard to see, but it's a snake track across the road.
About 2 1/2 inches wide...so quite a big fellow.

Luckily, he was long gone.

Merry Christmas!

It's Christmas Day!
It's Christmas Day!
And Santa's been here in his fire-singed sleigh.
He came through the bushfires and very thick smoke,
Quite a feat for the guy, and that's no joke.
He left us some Roo Chews, liver sticks and toys,
sneaking in silently, making no noise.
Also some cookies of peanut butter and pumpkin
(and forgave Dui's naughtiness, isn't that sumpin!)

So Happy Christmas to all,
Have a fabulous Day!
And be rest assured, Santa's on his way!

Yeah, it's an old photo.

Christmas Eve (afternoon)

We've been here for 2 hours...

Do you think we're looking for Santa Paws?
 Well....we're not!
We've been watching Roy, that sneaky cat.

He has been sleeping under our bush in the front garden
all afternoon!
Bella was so upset she was shaking with indignation!
Watch her ears.

He better not try to way-lay Santa!

Naughty List

Someone has been a Naughty Boy:

Barking at CATS before 5 a.m.
Lunging at CATS while on the Early Morning Walk
Lunging at Max, the gentle greyhound on a walk--
(from a good dog sitting position)
Nearly tripping HER up on walks
Trying to bite the legs of people walking past
Stealing Roxy's treats
Playing aggressively with a Puppy
Allowing a man to pat and make a fuss of him,
THEN trying to wee on his leg!
(Luckily he missed)
After this weekend, we think he is definitely on Santa's
 Naughty List.

Don't think his but-I'm-a-Terrier excuse will work!

Weather Update...

This weather update goes out to all you pups (and kitties) surrounded by snow and ice!  (And/or tornado damage.)

Today Australia's highest average temperature broke the record....which was the one set yesterday (Wed).

This is what we can expect for the rest of the week.

Translation:
41°C/105.8°F
43°C/109.4°F
46°C/114.8°F
You can see that it should cool off for Christmas Day...
A mere 34°C/93°F!

We will be having our Early Morning Walk, then go to the river to play with friends, though we're not allowed to go into the river as there is blue-green algae (toxic).

Fires continue to burn....over 800 houses/properties destroyed.
We are very lucky that there is only a smoky smell when the wind changes.
So if you're looking for us over the weekend, we'll be hibernating in the air con during the day!

We said goodbye to our friend Ron this week.

He died on Monday morning.  SHE went to see him in palliative care, but was too late.
The world lost a wonderful gentleman.
It wasn't unexpected, Ron had been ready to go for a long time, and when finally diagnosed with cancer just decided to go with it.

Unfortunately, while we were all away--SHE in Virginia
and us in detention-- Kelly, his faithful kelpie,
 was sent to the Bridge.
Kelly loved Ron and wouldn't take food from anyone else,
not even Ron's wife.
The ice cream man always stopped to give Kelly an ice cream.
One day, Kelly was alone, so he left the ice cream inside the gate for her.  She wouldn't touch it.
The one time she went to the kennel for a few days, she
wouldn't eat or do anything....

So the decision was made.
We will miss them.

No Mischief Monday

Roxy joined us on the Early Morning Walk and the river walk.
She seems much better.

Bella is just Bella....slow and steady.

Dui has had several 'no-leash' days!
(Not through lack of trying.)

Dui:  'Mr Roo, where are you?!!'

We've got snow!!!

Oh...no we don't, someone forgot the
check pockets before washing rule.

Have a fabulous weekend!

Weekend Wrap up

We went to the river as if you couldn't work that out...BOL!
Roxy, though better, is still not back to her usual self.
You can tell by her hang dog look.
It is difficult to tell what is unwell and what is theatrics.
She cries and yelps if anyone or anydog comes close to her.  However, she jumps up on furniture, or down to race out to bark at cats or people walking dogs.

She also never yelps when touched in the same place....seems to move around her body.
We are still just letting her take the lead.
On Sunday, one of the pups came (you'll notice Roxy has no problem jumping up to see).
 It was Teddy (formerly Pirate).
The pups had their inoculations a few weeks ago and have been in quarantine.
The Vet also said they were girls....not boys!
BOL!
Checking out Teddy after our long absence.
We could have told them that!

Though much of the east coast of Oz has fires,
there are no fires near us
but, we are getting the smoke.
It was quite bad on the weekend.
That's why it looks so hazy.

Teddy came with us on our walk along the track.
She's a very good girl.

(Also, Canadian and American firefighters have volunteered to give up their Christmas at home to help control the fires.  We are VERY GRATEFUL!)

Family Friday

You know how you can’t choose your relatives.  Well, this our Virginia cousin, Bart, that SHE visited in November while certain dogs. who shall remain nameless, were in detention.

He and his dad love hanging out together eating pretzels and
beef jerky while watching football.

Daisy and Lily

We had some Westie visitors on the weekend--Daisy and Lily.  They were visiting from Melbourne.
And though they live near a real beach, they were happy to enjoy our river.

Dui was quite smitten with the girls.

Today everyone went to the Police Paddock.
Dui had to stay on the lead because he gets a bit excited
when he sees joggers, cyclists, walkers with
other dogs, cows, 'roos and all were around today.
Roxy is still not feeling a 100%
though she did rally to bark at the cats....

Black Monday....

Only the black dogs went for a walk today.  Roxy was  paranoid.
Too much wind.

We had some rain last night and during the day.  Again, not much, but all rain is welcome.
However, there was not enough to prevent the daily
afternoon dust storm.

Everything seems to be covered in dust.
It seeps through every crack.....
