Roxy's feet

The other day the OP Pack noticed and remarked on Roxy's feet.

Roxy's feet are unique to say the least.
When she's resting, she turns out her right front leg at a funny angle.
At times it look like it's on backwards.
People always asked if she had rickets or if it was broken.
As she was surrendered to the pound as a small puppy, we don't know if she had rickets.
Could be, in a litter of 12 pups, maybe she didn't have growing room.
She also has funny back feet.  When SITTING, she sometimes has both out behind her, either straight as in this picture or crossed.
Or, she rests on her toes.
Usually, there is at least one leg flung out backwards.
Getting her to SIT on command is a lottery--you never know what she'll do.  She slowly lowers her back end into any one of her crazy positions.
It is always a talking point wherever we go.
The VET said it is just a Roxyism and to watch her weight as arthritis is a possibility in the future.
Whatever the cause.....
it does not slow her down or hinder her in any way!

  2. Maybe she is just double jointed. We had noticed that before too but if she is happy and it doesn't bother her...then all is good and it sure doesn't slow her down at all :)

  5. What a unique girl! My peep says she one of her furends has a dog with feet much like Roxy's... His name is Billy was a rescue and his vet said his feet were like that 'cos he's a mix of different breeds...

  10. BOL - growing up I had sort of that same thing going on, and then my folks realized I was just double jointed. I wonder if pups can be that same way?

  15. I noticed the odd angle of Roxy's front foot too, but as you said, it never seemed to slow her down, so I figured there was nothing to it. I'd never noticed the back legs. Special feet and legs for a special girl!

  16. mebbe her legs were just built like that.. and if it doesn't slow her down.. it should not be causing her pain. Maybe she should be called Flexi Sexy Roxy :D

  18. The one problem with rescues is that you don't have a good history. The vet didn't trust my Mexican papers and gave me all the shots again. Kaci's said she was born Feb 30. You have to take us as we are.

  23. Thank you for the explanation - we were worried she hurt herself or something. Maybe she is double jointed or something. Lightning usually lies down with his two back legs out too. As long as it doesn't stop her, all is good.

    Happy Sunday.

  25. I've never realised about you feet Roxy! As long as the vet says everything is fine, then I am happy! Roxyism is very cool and unique, because you're the only dog who can have it!
    Have a super week!

  27. Don't worry Roxy, we're all a little different. Our Tess has crazy legs. They aren't straight and they make her walk funny, but boy can she ever run! She's out fastest runner. Mom says her legs were made for running not walking. For now she's fine but the doctor says that in another year she may have some arthritis so we're starting her on fish oil and glucosamine to make sure she doesn't hurt.

  39. Don't worry about it Roxy - Blueberry has funny little ways she sits too (mostly cause of her bad hips and knee). It just means you have extra character!! :)
