Yes, it is March 2nd here. Dr Seuss Day.
As a former Infants teacher, Dr Seuss books were a favourite
'after lunch' read.
In fact, some of them, SHE can recite!
HER favourites are:
But Dr Seuss had a varied career--not just the author of children's books. Unbeknownst to most people (including us) he was a political cartoonist during WWII.
Happy Birthday, Dr Seuss!
We did not know that about Dr. Seuss. Mom was born and raised in his hometown in Springfield, MA where there is now a museum in his honor.

I didn't know about the political cartoon career!!
ReplyDeleteOh I can still recite Hop on Pop and Green Eggs and Ham.
We took a trip to Florida via Amtrak when our daughter was 4 1/2.
I think we read those books 87 times each and after each book was read she asked us where the door to Florida was. The lo and behold I saw a Welcome to Florida sign...I think the engineer heard me yell there is the door

We never knew that Dr. Seuss was a political cartoonist. That shirt the mom is wearing is kind of scary considering what is going on in our country now.

We knew Dr. Seuss was a political cartoonist and I must say you found one of his cartoons that sure does fit the times though it be seventy seven years later and it seems the slogan has been revived. Seems some lessons are lost of some people perhaps you should mail it to Trump.
ReplyDeleteThanks for being a friend
Sweet William The Scot
We hope your mom read you those books!

Horton hatches the egg is Mom's favorite too. We like it when Mom reads to us especially Dr Seuss books because she laughs as she reads.
