Saturday

Saturday morning we went to the Devil's Elbow, as usual.
Daisy
It was quite frosty when we got there.
But when the sun came out, the frost disappeared.
 We love running around....especially Roxy.
I found some great grass to eat.
Roxy and Bella went ahead, to see our friends.

Then we found out that Fred wouldn't be coming.
Big Fred, the gentleman....
Max, Big Fred, Jake and Buddy in front.

had jumped his front fence at home and attacked a small white, fluffy dog who went over the bridge.
We don't know why.
But Fred was sentenced to go over the bridge, too.
We have mixed feelings.  Fred was always so gentle with us and all the dogs at the river.  He was well known around town at various sausage sizzles.  The young ranger who had to take him away was very upset.
However, we know how SHE would feel if we were attacked, so we feel sad for the little dog and his peeps as well.
It's just a sad situation all around.
Goodbye Fred.

  1. That is really sad. I am sorry that Fred has to cross over the bridge. But I am also so sorry for that poor wee doggie.

  3. If the fence were high enough both Fred and the small dog would still be with us. Some peeps get more dog than they can handle properly. I'm a handful by myself, sometimes.

  4. scotsmad....
Oh my gosh!! Poor Fred!! My beautiful "blond"-furred German Shepherd Golden Retriever cross, Shadow, who died of old age two years ago this week, once bit some neighbors' canine. Drew blood. We paid the vet bill. Our neighbors' injured dog survived.... My heart goes out to Fred's family. That was an emotional time for me, at age 17. :-(
Change of subject. Okay. I love your picture of Roxy running!! It's a little blurry, yet, somehow, this photograph is flawless!! ;op
Love, Raelyn.... And Rose, my BEAUTIFULLY UNIQUE "Mystery Dog"!!

  8. This story was so uplifting in the first pictures and then came crashing down so quickly! I am stunned and can't think of what to say....feel so sorry for both owners....I just hope this does happen in our world...I guess you never can tell. I have learned one thing though and that I will always be alert and aware when meeting other dogs nearby here and at the park....I think this is what I will take from this....be vigilant, caring and loving!

  24. OMD, that's terrible! Did Fred even get any due process? Was the little dog running loose and teasing him, or was it on a leash and just minding its own business? Obviously Fred's fence was not high enough; was that his peeps fault, or some dumb zoning restriction? We're very sorry for the little dog and very sorry for Fred. Damn, as mama would say.
