Red wing parrot

We saw a red wing parrot and its mate eating in our tree on Sunday morning.  We've never seen one before.
Isn't it colourful?

Apparently, we're on the southern boundary of their known territory.
We hope to see them again.

No pictures for this story.....
The other day between rains, we went to the sports ground for a run. When we arrived, SHE spotted a dog not on a lead wearing a cone of shame.....sorry Ernie a cone of fame...with her owner.
Naturally, we weren't let off the leads.
Then, the dog raced over to us!  She only had three legs, but was so happy to see us that we had to be set free because we were  in a huge tangle.
Roxy and Lil--that's her name, started running all over the place.  Seems that Lil was wearing the cone because she'd recently been spayed!!!
That girl was wild.  She ran rings around Roxy.
(Bella and I just said 'hello' and started sniffing pee-mail.)
Roxy gave up first, but we think she was a bit frightened by the cone and being rammed with it.
No quiet recovery for that girl!

  1. Oh my gosh, scotties!!!

I just love how you guys look.

Poor Lil, is she okay? She's a triped? I'm glad she didn't have any problems with her stitches playing so roughly.

  3. Fun times for Roxy, but we hope Lil was OK after all that running with stitches and all. But we know we pups are tough, right?

What a beautiful parrot - you have the coolest birds there.

  10. The parrot is Gorgeous. I have never even HEARD of that kind of parrot before. I love the birds of OZ.

Ernie could SOOOOOOOO relate to that girrrrl dawg that had the WhoWhoectomy and has to wear the Cone of Fame. Glad that Roxy got to play with her.

  11. That bird looks like MY pet, Kismet. She's an Indian Ringneck parrot which has a range from India to Indonesia. They're normally green but mutations happen in captivity and Kismet (Arizona-born) is a pastel blue with that orange beak.

  13. Maybe the red wing parrot will make a nest in your tree, that will be cool.

  14. Sounds like that pup was supercharged. It hurts getting rammed with those cones. I get bruises on my legs whenever one of mine is wearing one.

  16. Hope Lil didn't rip out any stitches! That's a lot of activity for a be-Coned doggie. Sounds like she could be a new play friend, though, once she's healed.

Maybe your climate zones are changing like ours. Maybe the red-wing parrot's territory is moving south the way many of our animals' [and insects] territories are moving north.
