Kendra

Thanks everyone for your warm words of support.  We are a rather fragile household at the moment, liable to leak at any ungiven moment.
We'd love to give Kendra a glowing eulogy, how saint-like she was etc..... but it wouldn't be true.
Kendra was a loner.  Not socialised as a pup, though we tried, she had an uneasy relationship with the world.  She was a one-person dog.  Everyone else was suspect and needed to be told long and loud that this was her kingdom.  If given the chance Kendra would circle and nip at unsuspecting ankles.  She would only walk at night or early morning when chance meetings with others were at a minimum.  When visiting friends, she'd find a quiet corner and back to the wall, ready to bite  passing ankles if possible.
But we loved her.

Here are a few memorable photos of our girl.
Swamp monster--bath time.

Recovering from her 'career girl' operation with Daisy (right)

Her first haircut(???) She was very embarrassed.

Rolling--one of her greatest joys

Always nosing around in corners.

Even towards the end, she was at her surveillance post .

Trade mark wonky beard

Always on the wrong side of a closed door.

Growing old disgracefully.
She will be missed and fondly remembered by us.

  5. We wouldn't have wanted to read a nice eulogy about a saint-like Kendra... it isn't who we loved and admired. We loved reading and seeing the real Kendra today. Thank you for sharing her with us!

    Our thoughts are with you.

  8. So many before us have said it, but no matter how feisty Kendra may have been, she found a way to have you love her for who she was. That's what mattered to her. And look at the beautiful photos you have to remember her. Take time to mourn, she will be missed.

  9. Oh, gosh, we're gonna miss Kendra, too. It's okay if she wasn't saint-like. Mom luvs the saying about how you might not gets the perfect dog but you gets the perfect dog for YOU. And it sounds like Kendra Most Definitely was!

Thank you for sharing those super terrific pictures with us. They made us smile through our sad.

  13. Oh my! What a fantastic visual tribute to a beloved friend & companion. Kendra was a true Scottie: faithful, stubborn, aloof, proud and protective - we've loved and lost one just the same - She'll be in your hearts .... always.

  18. She did it her way. I do that also. We're both Scots. If anyone doesn't like it, do whatever except roll on MY dead bird.

Kendra, I understand where you were coming from. I was born 2 years after you and you may have had Cushing's and I definitely have Addison's disease (the exact opposite). It is my intention to enjoy what time I have left and then I'll join you.

  19. Hi All, that's what we love to hear. Kendra, you were special in your own way and had a family who loved you warts and all. We had a dog like that too and he was a one person dog as well. Love the cobweb face and your dear wonky beard. Love and hugs to the family. No worries, and love, Carol (and Stella and Rory)
