Kendra comes home

We realise that for some readers this may seem like a bad taste post.
But we're happy to have our girl back home.

We're not quite sure what we'll do with her.  For various reasons, we couldn't bury her in the garden and leaving her at the vets to be disposed of at the local tip was not an option.  For now, she'll stay on the shelf, sparking good memories whenever we look at her.

  1. I think it is a great idea. No problemo with us bout it.

    Jazzi and Addy

  2. Wonderful idea. I have no problems with this post at all. I was so relieved when I got to bring my Cleo back home when she went to the bridge in Sept. Her ashes sit on a shelf with her picture and collars. Sniffs, The HoundDogs

  3. Not bad taste at all... in fact mom has a friend who has the ashes of all her previous pets and when its her time she's requested that her ashes and those of the others are to be mixed together!

    Sam and Pippen

  4. That is a beautiful way to remember Kendra. Everyone has their own way of dealing with loss. We have no trouble with this post at all. Hugs to all of you.

Woos - Phantom, Thunder, Ciara, and Lightning

  5. My family has done the same thing with their late dogs - it's a beautiful way to remember a lost family member.

  6. Hi Kendra! It is good to have you back! You are perfect.

We are glad that you are taking this so well!! Many sparkling memories <3

  7. Wow, what a sweet way to keep Kendra's spirit close to you. I think this is perfect. What a beautiful picture filled with wonderful memories. Warm, loving vibes to your whole pack.
    Grr and Woof,
    Sarge, COP

  8. Friends should stay close

  9. Welcome home sweet Kendra, it is where you belong

    Maggie Mae, Max and mom

  10. We are happy to see Kendra there where she belongs. And if you would like, when you come back to Virginia, we would love to extend the invitation for Kendra's cremains to be buried in our little dog cemetery. Just let our Mom know if that is something you would wish to do.

The Rocky Creek Scotties and Ivy

  11. Hello Everybuddy, sounds just perfect to us. Our angel brothers and sister are in our garden and that suited us. Your Kendra is back home where she belongs with her family. No worries, and love, Stella and Rory

  12. Someday Samba's ashes and mine will be mixed and sent on the breeze in the woods near where I grew up.

  13. I have just learned of your loss and am sorry to hear of it. My beloved Jessie stayed in a container in the entertainment center for several years until I figured out the right place to bury her remains. Some people might think it is weird, but it felt right to me.

  14. Squirrels seem to be eating my comments.

I think this is a VERY tasteful post.

I always Laff when I think of Kendra out by the gate... bossin the entire neighborhood. Darn butt she was GOOOOOOOOD at that.

  15. Oh, we don't think this is in bad taste at ALL! We luv Kendra's pretty urn and thinks it's Most Befitting that she's home with you all. My mom has all our Angel Kittehs ashes (including Cap'n Ripley's) on top of the dresser. She guesses there might be some people who might think that's weird, but she doesn't care. She feels comforted knowing that they're close by.

We're very much glad that Kendra is home again.

    Gentle wiggles & wags,

  16. It's not offensive-it is a celebration of Kendra. He has fur or a feather from all His departed friends.

Maybe you could get some black fuzzy material and personalize it by putting a wonky beard on the urn. She'd probably like that.

  17. We are so glad you brought Kendra's remains home. Lee's Half Pence sits on the dresser or in the window. Sometimes in the sunshine where he liked to be. And when she dies they are going to be together. Lee brought Half Pence home on what would have been his 13th birthday.
We understand, she is gone from sight but certainly not forgotten. We are glad you posted this chapter of Kendra.
Sweet William The Scot & Lee

  18. Gizmo is on my night stand; along with Max, Mandy, Sparky and Allie. No, I don't think your post is weird. But your photo is beautiful...

  19. I am so sorry and I feel horrible. I had no idea that you lost Kendra. I looked back through the posts and I was in Florida where I wasn't reading any blogs at the time. I am so sorry that I wasn't there to send my condolences to you. Please accept them now and I am so sorry for your loss.

I have my first Newfs ashes in my hope chest. They will always be safe there.

  20. Not bad taste at all! A fact of life I'm afraid. I think it's wonderful that you have Kendra's ashes somewhere where you can have many good memories "sparked". In time it will become clearer as to what you want to do in the long term.

  21. It's not in poor taste at all. I have the remains of all of our dogs. Kendra belongs with you, and for me having them with me gives me a bit of closure...

  22. Not in bad taste at all. I think it is only natural to want to keep her close.
I keep the ashes of my cherished pets in a china cabinet. They are there with a piece of fur, collar and toy.
    Joyelle, Ruby & Penny's mom

  23. Nothing in bad taste about that at all. I have to admit I've never kept a pet's ashes, but when the day comes for Darby and Pumpkin to leave us--many years from now, I hope--I will keep theirs.

  24. I'm sure she would be quite pleased...looking over everyone...standing guard...

  25. This is a lovely post, no worries about it. Mom says when it's my time, she'll also want to keep me at home.

  26. Home is where Kendra should be.
    Hugs to you all,

  27. We totally understand. A German friend of mine has her father's ashes on the shelf at her home by Loch Torridon. It was her father's wish for his ashes to be scattered on the loch, which will happen in time, but for the moment my friends enjoys the comforting presence of the urn.
    Best wishes,

  28. We think it's wonderful that Kendra is home. It's where she belongs.

    Love ya lots,
    Maggie and Mitch

  29. OH...not in bad taste at all! BoBo's in the living room cabinet. He comes out and visits from time to time. She picks him up and loves on him. And my grandpeep is in the attic. That may be a weird place, but not really. We really like Kendra's urn. It's beautiful! Glad she's back with you all.

Oh my. Memories are nice to remember when you're looking at a memory urn, too.

    AroooOO! Stuart

  30. this is not bad taste, she is your baby and you need her home with you.

  31. Ah, I think that's beautiful. Keep her close, in your home where she belongs.

  32. Kendra is back home where she belongs!

  33. Kendra is home.....exactly as it should be!!!

  34. Welcome home Kendra! We have our sister and brother on our mantel in the living room.
    Happy Friday!

  35. I think that is wonderful, I'm going to have Pippi's ashes made into a gemstone and set in a ring.

  36. First I'm so sorry we didn't know that Kendra had gone to the bridge, moms just not let us on the laptop much, we will always remember the photo of her with the spiders web all over her face.
This post is not in bad taste at all, you do what is right for you.
Love and Hugs George and Tess xxx
