Tuesday Excitement

This morning we were at the river, as usual.
SHE didn't want to go near the water
to try to keep us clean.
BUT...
There was a bird flapping around near the big log.
Demi and Kenzie went to investigate, but didn't bother it.
SHE realised it couldn't fly and waded out to see the problem.
It was actually two Corellas, their legs entwined, stuck to the log with fishing line.
Luckily, Ron had a knife and SHE cut them free.
One fell into the river, and SHE had to get a stick under it.
It just sat for awhile but wouldn't leave its mate--
The more injured, who hid inside the log.
(No photo was taken so as not to distress it further.)
Wildlife Rescue (WIRES) was called
and a lady arrived

to take both birds to the zoo hospital.

This is the bird you saw,  in the bag.
The birds weren't very appreciative of HER efforts.
A few painful pecks and talon grabs...

were worth helping them though.
We hope they make it.

  3. Oh Bella, Dui and Roxy I am so very proud of HER and HER efforts to save the bird. I am a bird lover too. Your Aussie birds are amazing.
I'm glad the Madi Scarf was part of the rescue. She too loved watching birds from her window perch. I hope HER hand isn't too sore to dole out treats. Give HER some smooches from me

  8. God bless you for helping them, what a sad story and I hope they will be ok. years ago at the beach, a man wade fishing cast his fishing line and a pelican flew at it and the hook got stuck in his leg. it took me, hubby and 2 other men to get that bird safe. I held a wing, a man held a wing, the other man held the beak closed and hubby worked the hook out... I know about how hard they can scratch and peck. thanks for all your comments while I was on my break
