Today, we're joining Kismet for:
We live in a land of parrots.
We thought we'd share the ones most common around us.
First is the Sulphur-Crested Cockatoo.
We see about a hundred of them a day.
Next, are Galahs.
Then the little Red-Rumped Parrot
The Eastern Rosella is a bit rarer; but seen occasionally.
Sometimes the Corella visits the river.
And VERY rarely but still around, the Rainbow Lorikeet.
These are members of the parrot family that live in our area.
We wish Kismet and all the parrots of the world, a Very Happy World Parrot Day. May there be an abundance of seeds!
SQUAAAAAWWWWWK!!!
*************
We had to use Internet photos, because our camera is cheap and we never seem to have it
when we spot parrots.
Also, we are incarcerated in camp at the moment. SHE had a CATaract Operation yesterday.
Such pretty bright birds!
ReplyDeleteThe birdies are just beautiful! We hope SHE heals soon!
ReplyDeleteGuess what we have some of those birds living in our backyard as well, over in the sunny Mangamahu valley in New Zealand. we see the cockatoos most days as there is a very large flock living near us and we see smaller break off flocks in our gum trees. In the summer time Rosellas sometimes come and feed off the ripe plums.
ReplyDeleteOhhhh I thought the Galahs was my favorite until I saw Rainbow Lorikeet. I cannot imagine seeing such a colorful bird in the great out of doors.
ReplyDeleteOh you 3 best be minding your p's and q's...now HER peepers are bionic and SHE will see all and know all.
Hugs Cecilia
All of your parrots are so beautiful. We don't have any native parrots around here. Our paws are crossed for HER and hope she makes a speedy recovery from her surgery so you all can get out of jail.
ReplyDeletewe have no parrots here except in our parks, and they are not wild. I love those PINK PARROTS soooo beautiful. I don't take many bird photos but I would I were there to see your parrots. Squawk INDEED
ReplyDeleteooh to live in a land where da parrots fly around that would be the heaven for the mama... but she can not make a pawlova so she probably gets no green card for Oz LOL
ReplyDeleteYou are so fortunate to see such beautiful birds in the wild - they are all gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteWoos - Lightning, Misty, and Timber

Thanks. You have native parrots and we don't. We're the poorer for it.
ReplyDeleteThank you for observing World Parrot Day.The peeps would not be into it without Kyla the Scottie.
ReplyDeleteOh, they are so beautifuls!!!!!! You knows we have wild parrots here too...they were pets, butts long ago, somebody let them out and they survived and flourished. I don't thinks they are as pretty as yours thou
ReplyDeleteKisses,
Ruby ♥
Oh how I would love to see those colorful birds in the wild. I have to make do with cardinals and indigo buntings.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing parrots but they are too loud for me to have as a pet. My cockatiel taught me that lesson.
ReplyDeleteSeriously... you see parrots just flying around free every day? I cannot imagine that. Very cool!
