Woeful Walk....

We finally had some rain yesterday--not a lot, but we needed it.
There may be a bit more today.

We ventured out early this morning, first neighbourhood walk in over two weeks, and it was WOEFUL!
Roxy had her foot bandaged and wrapped Cling Film.
It didn't work, she bunny hopped with film trailing behind her.
The bandage was sodden when we got home.

Dui wore his new muzzle for the first time.
He tried one on for size at the Vet's last Friday
during his annual check-up and injections.

So Roxy was bunny hopping, while Dui was doing a fair imitation of a bucking bronco!  He bucked and rolled on the ground, managing to get one leg out of his 'Easy Walk' harness--but the muzzle stayed in place.

The walk was shortened to 1 km, as he was dragged along.
About three-quarters of the way, and realising he could still
eat a treat, he settled down.

SHE has had to revive with a coffee--is 7:30 a.m. too early for an Irish coffee??!!

The offending item.
However, he is now in his usual place, head on HER foot, so maybe all is forgiven--until the next time.

  1. Your mom has the patience that can only come from being a true dog lover.

  5. Pierre does well in his Easy Walk harness but Bentley couldn't walk in his. Basset Hounds are hard to fit. LOL!

  6. I totally sympathise. Over the past few months I have learned how hard it is too keep wounded paws dry and clean on walks in wet weather. I wish I could offer a failsafe solution, but I have not yet found one.
    As for Due...
So in answer to your question, an early Irish coffee is most definitely justified.
    Make it a strong one!
    Cheers, Gail.

  8. Bummer, Dui. Maybe in time, the muzzle can become a thing of the past. Hang in there, Roxy. Better days are coming! SHE deserves that Irish coffee!

  11. Oh please tell HER that HER description of the walk gave us a purrfect visual of the event. Sounds like either Bella didn't go or she was very well behaved so that she would not get a muzzle or a bandaged foot.
Hugs to HER and MOL at the Irish Coffee. For sure it was 5 pm somewhere

  12. That does sound like a woeful tale. We sure hope Roxy's paw heals fast so you can go on longer walks soon. Dui you are just going to have to get used to your new apparatus if you want to go on walks too.

  13. The dreaded muzzle. He will get used to it with time, and hopefully the walks can get longer. Now Roxy, leave that bandage alone and let things heal.

Hope SHE has revived after that woeful walk.

  14. Oh Dui what is up with you wanting to bite people? So sad the muzzle has to be a part of your attire and it detracts from a Scotties fine whiskers.

  17. Oh boy! I don't knows if you have this pawsome stuffs in Oz, butts here in the states we have something called Glad Press and Seal. It's like a plastic wrap that sticks to itself. Butt the pawsome thing about it, is that you can wrap doggies feets, over the bandage, and it keeps it dry. How long is Roxy gonna have to have her paw wrapped? Let me know and I can send you a package of the wrap, it is so much easier! And, you can use it in the kitchen too! ☺ Oh, Ma has threatened to use one of those muzzle thingies on me ~ I told her the vettie already uses one on me sometimes when they try and trim my nails...☺
Ma is all for an Irish coffee...she is half Irish ya knows..hehehe
    Kisses,
    Ruby ♥

  18. Mom had to laugh at the description of the walk. She's been looking at basket style muzzles for a certain furry that doesn't exhibit good mouth control.
