Update

SHE's home.  Cataract Op successful, so far.

Though comments like:

"If you drop that bit, it's impossible to pick up."
"Ooooooo, you've hit blood."

"good thing you don't take blood thinners, you'd be hemorrhageing now."
"don't worry we'll go to Plan B"

"We'll give you a mild sedative, so you won't feel this part."

"Why doesn't this pedal work?"  We need it working.....

"Where's my seat?  At this angle I'm in trouble" (the Dr. is in trouble?!)

Did not inspire confidence.

Good thing HER head was taped to the table at this point.

However, it went well.  Checked  today, and everything's okay.

New left eye can see distances and the Old right eye can read close ups....don't need the glasses at this point.

(Should point out that there were student doctors in the operating room.)

Dogs will stay at the kennels for a week, though.  Still can't bend over or lift heavy weights (Dui).

  5. so glad you did well, so did I. I go to see the doc in a couple of hours. I can see distance in left eye but can't read or see anything out of other eye. will get it repaired in 2 weeks.

  7. So glad it all went well (sort of!)
The conversation reminds Gail of a medical crisis a quarter of a century ago, requiring an angiogram to investigate blood flow in the artery feeding her arm (there was none). The nice radiogrpaher tending to Gail told her she could look at the screen and watch the results as it happened. So Gail did just that, only to then hear the consultant - a New Zealander - shout from behind the screen "TELL HER TO STOP MOVING HER F***ING HEAD!!!"
    Cheers! Gail.
PS Hope you're managing the eye drops OK.

  9. that's so great to read good news!! Hugs to the mama for a speedy recovery :o) btw: my granny had the same surgery last year, she acted totally furious as my grampy had to put the drops in her eyes... he sadly had no helmet or an armor, so he passed this job to a neighbor who was a nurse once :o)

  11. Oh my word...tell HER I can surely understand. Holy Moley the student docs need to weary muzzles in the operating room. LOL
SHE remember ever comment too. That is kinda like the old joke you don't want to see smoke when the dentist is drilling.
Will you have a surgery on the right eye or is it ok?
    Hugs to Her

  21. I know these sweeties are missing their mama, but fully understand why. I have a friend who lives in the desert on a ranch and she is alone to. she has 2 80 pound dogs that she walks on a leash 4 times a day. she is about to have the surgery. I emailed her your story so she could make plans.

  24. Cataract crap on a cracker surgery. Yep Lee has had both eyes done. And exactly 157 days after surgery on the first eye complication but she had already had the second eye done. Then again exactly 157 days on the other eye complication. Yep Posterior vitreous detachment and retinal detachment after cataract surgery. We pray hard HER has no complications.
    Thanks for being a friend
