December First...

The first day of summer here in Oz.

We had a nice drop of rain last night.
The ground and plants were so thirsty that there weren't any puddles this morning.

We still did 'road work' for our Early Morning walk.
Another reject Christmas photo.

Wish we could say that it was a wonderful morning,
but our computer has been having problems.
A diagnostic test stated that we had a few 'fails'
on the modem and line.

That meant a dreaded call to India.
SHE was stressed as SHE had to unplug the modem and plug it into
the landline socket in another room.

SHE couldn't understand the technician and the technician,
didn't seem to understand old technology.

A Very frustrating hour with no result--but loads of dust motes discovered behind furniture have been taken care of.

We got our First Christmas Card.

 From Madi.

We got it last week, but our computer couldn't find the
yellow cartridge, so wouldn't print.
The yellow was replaced, but the computer still said it couldn't be found.  After getting the computer to notice that there was yellow,
the printer kept putting up notices saying there was No paper--when there was.

The good bit was SHE took us to the Cricket grounds to run around so SHE could stop fuming!

By the time we returned, SHE'd calmed down and so had the computer.
We got to print off our card!

PS.  Those of you on the Christmas card exchange list will notice that we have asked
for e-mail cards.  Australia Post is
charging $2.55 per card to go overseas, so we decided to use e-mail this year.  If you send us a card like Madi's, we'll be able to print it off.

  1. Technology's great all the while its working, when it goes wrong tempers get very very frayed ! That's when us doggies are useful, creating distractions !?!

  9. Calling India drives mom up the wall. What usually works is unplugging everything for a few minutes and plugging everything back in

  13. Computers are such a pain and computer technicians are even worse. Having said that, Mum had a call center from Ireland the other day and couldn't understand them either!

  16. Your lucky to have had some rain, here in Tamworth it is as dry as a firemans shovel, we also have some very tough water restrictions , Talking to India was a huge problem for me with a hearing disability. I finally gave Teltra the flick and changed to Southern Phone an Aussie company situated on the south coast. and you ALWAYS get to talk to an aussie,

  18. Our mom hates getting on the phone to a support person and finding out they are in India. It is almost impossible to understand them even though we both speak English.

  19. Ugh, 'outer problems. We know about those calls. We are wondering why that Christmas photo is a reject? That would be a keeper around here!

  20. Why was that photo a Christmas reject, I liked it. Your mum needs to do what my mom does when she has to call for tech support. Mom always pours herself a big healthy Gin and tonic. She says it takes the edge off while dealing with someone talking over her head. Plus it helps to understand their thick accent and mom's speech starts to slur. BOL

    Aroo to you,
    Sully

  21. So sorry about all the computer issues - hope you can get them figured out. We think the reject photo is pretty cool, but your Christmas card one (which arrived tonight) was pawesome. Thanks again.

  22. Computers can be one of the most frustrating things on earth. I understand. In fact, I think we all do.

I'm glad that the run-around on the cricket grounds helped all your problems!

  23. Happy December to you too! We know all about computer problems...dada is an IS manager and literally LEAPED out of bed at five thirty this morning because he received an sms from the server room at work telling him that the room was getting too hot. Mom was NOT impressed.

  24. Crikey ..... how funny is Sully?? Mum's going to try that the next time she has to ring one of those Indian call centre joints. They're the pits, aye?? At least you got to have a run because of the frustration.
Hey ..... that's a great Christmas photo. Why was it rejected?? Ok so Bella's not smiling but crikey it's hard to get all three smiling at the same time. Mum knows because she tries to take the little girls photos and there's always one of them doing the wrong thing.
