Bella and the Bridge

After the river flooded,  the foot bridge surface was buckled, so it was replaced with a new surface.  It's yellow and has holes in it.  Bella was too scared to walk on it.
'It looks funny.  I'm not going on it!'

'Maybe I can go around it.'

'I'm staying on the leaves.'

'Hey, it isn't too bad.'
Once on the other side,  we noticed we had an audience.
Mum, what are those strange-looking black things?
On the way back, Bella had no problem with the new  surface.

'Come on, Daisy.  It isn't so bad.'

  1. Hi Bella!
I'm quite brave about weird bridges, but Gail tells me that Hamish was always petrified of bridges with holes.
Looks like you had a nice walk in the end anyway, and even attracted some admirers!

  2. Well done Bella, we know you you feel, Bailey is not keen on bridges and especially ones with holes or spaces!
We were very impressed that you tried it! We once had a whole storyline about the bridge in our garden going over a tiny stream - Bailey would never set a paw on it!
You are very brave indeed to face your fear!
    Much love

  3. You are so brave and those are wonderful photos. Just one thing, though - seeing the word "Bridge" in the title of a post about doggies nearly gave us a heart attack. We are so very relieved it wasn't THAT bridge.

  7. Oh. My. Gosh! Roos watching you when you were brave and crossed the bridge, Bella! It's fun to be reminded every now and then that in spite of how close the internet makes you feel to me, you really are very, VERY far away! (I agree with Lola: the title of your post left me holding my breath as I opened your post.)

  11. ROOS! I would just luv to see a roo in pawson someday.

I don't blame you for wanting to find another way around that bridge. It looks pretty skeery to me. But I'm proud of you that you showed it who was boss. You're Most Brave.

  12. Kangaroos???? How cool is that???

Hey, I don't like walking on or around weird things either. I jump over puddles, walk waaaaay around tossed out Christmas trees in alleys, and steer clear of piles of leaves.

  21. Wonder why they replaced the bridge with a yellow thing with holes. Something in our house with holes gets thrown in the trash.

  22. Very brave, Bella.

It took our breath away to imagine seeing kangaroos! Such a cool place you live in.

I hope the flooding has subsided.

  23. Third near heart attack here! Using "bridge" in the title of a post is problematic.

How could the humans not understand our aversion to grates and other pavement holes? They've got flat shoes or feet. We've got nails that get caught and can tear. Not to mention it looks weak and might collapse and fall and we'd get hurt. We're just too logical for humans to keep up. It is, however, amazing that with all the flood damage in Oz, your town has already fixed your footpath!
