It's Halloween.....

morning here.

Some uncooperative dogs had to have stickers instead of costumes....just sayin'.

Not that Halloween is celebrated much in Australia.  

It IS catching on.

We always  put out a plastic pumpkin to show that we have treats.

And the local scouts give out maps of houses that participate.

We were going to put our house on the map, but after watching about 500 kids go to the house across the street, we decided just to take the kids who'll come to the door!

However, as it's Spring, usually quite warm, and light outside, it loses some of the magic that SHE remembers as a child in Virginia.

WARNING!

Remember to be careful  when you open your door

 to strangers. 

You may be in for a horrifying surprise!

We need rain.

But not as much as we got that year.

Monday Mischief....

Big Ted was a Very Naughty Bear!

Look what I found!

 Just left by the river.

YUM!

 But SHE chased me away from it.

Then Bella found a whole pile of them.

Maybe they'll still be there next time.

(Note:  These are feral carp.  The fishermen leave them out to die when caught.

Very annoying to dog owners!  The dogs find them irresistible to eat and roll on when rotten.)

Yes, I Dui-man, finally won!

Three times last week I upended the pot of daisies

 to chew the container.

Until FINALLY, 

SHE re-potted them in a larger pot!

And I got the little pot to chew.

Oh, and because I like playing in the garden bed,

this is HER garden this year.

A Package....

......arrived at our house. 

Only took 4 days from Germany!

 SHE said it is DEFINITELY   NOT for us!

We got them.....

They had been cut into small portions.

There was lots of meat on them and the bones were fairly soft so we could eat those, too.

Even Roxy, who has been turning her nose up at

 the beef knuckle bones enjoyed hers.

We give them the 12 paws up.

Only drawback, we only got a tiny bit of kibble for dinner.

SHE is waiting to see how our digestive systems

handle them before we get them again.

Monday Mischief...

The culprit--a VERY naughty boy

After our rain last week, Dui disappeared into the garden.  As everyone knows, a quiet puppy is probably up to no good.  TRUE.
SHE went looking for him and found him innocently 
chewing on a bone.
It looked like a thick chicken leg bone.

THEN

SHE noticed that Daisy's grave had been disturbed in one corner!

The bone was removed, disposed of, grave covered with more dirt, chicken wire, patio pavers and a plant pot.

SHE did not investigate further.....
SHE didn't even want to know!

Sunday

We had a lazy Sunday...

After we went to the river, we had bones.

Roxy hid hers in her hideout.

Then Dui had to get his fur raked and a slight trim.

I helped Roxy pull out the black plastic sheeting....

 But today's BIG NEWS is that Dui gave his first scottie Aaroooooo!

SHE held a squirming Dui, restraining him from chasing a ute

 with dogs on the back at the river.

He barked and squeaked and finally let out a LOUD, frustrated  Arrroooooo!

SHE was very excited.

Monday Mischief

Mischief Monday started at 4:45 a.m. 

when Dui decided it was time to play.

SHE opened the sliding door and

'me first' Roxy charged out knocking the screen door off its track.

We went back to bed for an hour.  SHE wasn't interested in playing.

As we were getting ready to go to the river, 

SHE noticed that Dui had a baby bird!

He was racing around with it cheeping and flapping in his mouth.

The mother bird was dive bombing Dui and

SHE was chasing him.

Dui released the baby to chase the mother, and SHE tried to pick up the baby,

who fluttered into the bushes.

He was left there in hopes that the mother could get him out of the backyard

 while we were at the river.

We had to be indoor dogs on our return.

Next, we had a STORM, with thunder, lightning and hail!

SHE took a photo of our flooded patio.

 When SHE looked again.  There was that baby bird,

Sitting in the water!

SHE took the photo and turned to put the phone down to put the baby somewhere dry, only to find he was gone!

Next, Dui went out and chucked up a green plastic bag.

We don't know where he got that!

Roxy and Dui are currently outdoors, the sun is shining, so

there will probably be more mischief before Monday is over!
