We had a surprise this morning. We went back to the
Tracker Riley Cycleway.
We haven't been there in months and months.
We didn't walk along the river, we went the other way towards
the zoo.
SHE was looking for 'roos that often feed in these paddocks.
But there were only HUGE cows.
Okay.....they were calves.
Big calves.
Tracker Riley was a local Aboriginal policeman who helped track criminals, murderers and found lots of people lost in the bush.
The 13 km of cycle/walk way has been named in his honour.
We walked all the way out to the zoo about 2.5 km one way
but we're not allowed in, even if it had been open.
So we had a refreshing drink...
and headed back.
It took us about an hour and a half, because there was lots of pee-mail and other good scents.
We also had to keep stopping and standing because there were so many other peeps on the track.
We still had a great time.
That was so sad about that little boy.. Looks like you guys had a super time :) xxxoxxxx

What a Sad Sad story. We hope that those sorts of things are truly behind us.
ReplyDeleteBUTT you had a marvelous and LONG walk and PeeMail Check. That is a nice drinking station. Sorry that you didn't get to see any ROOs though.
That's a very sad story. Hard to believe someone could not overcome their prejudice for the sake of a small child.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sad story. I did a search on Riley and my gosh, he was amazing! I'm glad he was remembered in some way.

Such a sad story about Tracker Riley - glad there is something to remind people of what happened. Looks like you had a great walk to the Zoo and lovely weather - it is still winter here and very wet! Woofs and licks from Magic xx
ReplyDeleteIt's OK. If you want to see what a zoo looks like, look in the mirror.
ReplyDeleteYou were brave walking over that ' see through ' bridge !
ReplyDeleteWe had nevers heard of this story, how heartbreaking. Oh we are living vicariously through you guys on your nice long walk. It is so cold here and the snow so high that the farthest we get to walk is out to the exercise pen at Alcatraz and right back in. Like no longer than 3 minutes.

It's nice that you had a long walk with different views. Sorry you could not see the Zoo. When will people love children and animals and no longer hate?
