The Whole Truth....

Roxy loves to carry stuff around....squeaky stuff is her favourite--but anything will do.

So Roxy was chosen to hold the flag for Australia Day.

Some of you commented on her holding the flag.
Apparently, Roxy likes to hold anything EXCEPT the flag.
The picture taken was a set up.
Some of you may have noticed the blurry fingers as SHE tried to take the picture before Roxy dropped the flag. (Yet, again.)

Poor Roxy

We've been going to the river most mornings--more than usual.
Roxy always waits for her best friend Kelly to arrive.
.
She stares down the road to see if Kelly's ute is coming.

Roxy, Kelly and Kelly's dad.
But Kelly had an abscess on her back and has had an operation.
She won't be back for a couple of weeks.
Luckily for Roxy,

Chloe is just as wild as Kelly.  They have mad games.
But, Roxy still stops to gaze longingly for Kelly.

Australia Day

Today is Australia's birthday.  Actually it is the anniversary of the British settlement of this ancient land.
There are official celebrations and celebrations in backyards, parks, beaches....wherever there are Australians.

We headed to the river early to celebrate with our friends.

Bella always stays on the floor--she doesn't like car rides.

We stopped by the Pie Shop on the way home and got a selection of Meat Pies.
However, we had to SHARE only ONE!
 It was a chunky beef.
Bella and I got right into our pieces.

 Roxy ran to her hideout.
We've had a gorgeous day with temps in the mid 80s, so we could spend it outside.

It's been a  fantastic day.
Happy Birthday Australia!
(We're hoping to have some more pie tonight.)

Look!!

We've got MUD PUDDLES!

Bella
We had two days with some good rain.
Especially good because we did not miss out on our morning walks and it was cool,  so we got a mid-day walk, as well.

Roxy after chasing away some birds.
We not only played in the river, but in puddles and mud.
Bella digging in the mud, while Jake watches Roxy and Chloe chewing on Pi's ears.

Life is good....
Oh, I Daisy, am there, too, I was wandering around
so SHE didn't get a picture.

Thursday Treat

If you've been watching the tennis, you'll know that we're having some HOT, HOT days.
Actually, we've though we've been hovering around the century mark, we've been spared the intense heat...but it's getting hotter every day and will continue until the middle of next week.
Our friends, Stella and Rory, Rubie, Milo and Jet, and Dougall and Floyd are having scorching heat.

This morning we headed to the river.  We don't usually go on Thursday because SHE always has an important (BOL) Morning Tea date each week with friends.

But today we went.

Bella and I hit the water straight off.

 Bella enjoyed the rock game...
I paddled in the water, investigated the area, chased birds and was running around so much SHE couldn't even get me on camera!
Now what are those girls doing?
Roxy and Chloe are into the wild wrestling games.
Kelly hasn't arrived yet.
Jake the gentledog watches those crazy girls.
Then home for a rinse-off and hibernation indoors.
You can see my missing teeth here.
A fabulous way to start the day.
We'll be starting our days like this for a few more mornings.
Oh, and we got frozen kibble ice blocks...yum!

Wordy Wednesday.....

We just received  Daisy's biopsy result.  It is cancer--a growth on the front of her jaw that is growing into the bone.

The good news is that it should not affect other organs.

However, it will eventually become painful:
6 months to a year, the report estimates.

There are the options of extremely invasive operations with chemo......
but, we are choosing quality of life...

So Daisy, will just be Daisy and enjoy the rest of her life.

Thanks for your crossed paws and support.
We hope the POTP works for a long time.

No Camera...

Not going to look at the camera...

You can just get it out of my face, because I'm not going to look.

Ahhhhhh, that felt good.
These pictures were taken at the river YESTERDAY!
We had a roll up of thirteen dogs who raced around like crazy hounds while, I, Daisy, did my own thing.

This morning we did the local walk.
But someone forgot the camera, so you missed out on:

*A HUGE dog who barked at us, then became confused when Roxy ran around him with her play-with-me-dance and ran back into his yard.
*A bunny
* A new, tiny lamb that must have been born last night
* A group of small birds dive-bombing a Kookaburra
*A kitten who took exception to us saying hello and tried to chase us off his front lawn.
*The return of the black swan to the duck pond.
And, of course, us.

Daisy Update

This is me this evening.....those cats just have to be told!

I'm not having any problems--although trying to pick up dropped food is difficult--and I'm back to my old self.

Should hear next week about the biopsy.

I was not allowed to go to the river yesterday, because SHE thought all that dust and river water might infect my wound--even though I'm on antibiotics.
I go on the other walks.
As you see it rained today.  All day.  It started just as we were ready to walk out the door for our early morning walk.

 Then is stopped....started....rained lightly...heavily....
each time we, well, SHE decided it would be okay to walk.
Finally, SHE decided SHE'd don her rain jacket and we'd just go.
But discovered redback spiders with egg sacs in the sleeves.

Redbacks are related to Black Widows and are poisonous.
So we didn't get a walk.

What's an omen?

First post-operative walk--early this morning.

Daisy in the middle.

At Sunrise.

The sun was blood red, but our cheapo camera couldn't get the colour right.

Mysterious Monday...by Daisy

Last night, we didn't get our bedtime snack.  This morning we didn't get breakfast.
BUTT we DID go for a long early-morning walk.
We didn't get good-girl treats after the walk.
SHE brushed me AND I still didn't get a treat...
Next I got into the car for a ride.  Sometimes I get to go places with HER because I love car rides and socialising.
BUTT,  I found myself at the DREADED VETs.
Something's wrong.  I was here only last week.
They looked in my mouth--just like last week.
They checked my heart and did the thermometer thing.
And I didn't get a treat....just sayin'
Next thing I knew, this guy took me into the back room where they put me to sleep!  I stayed ALL DAY!
SHE came in the evening, expecting to carry me out to the car.
AS IF......
I'm not a wuss.
I was lookin' around for the cat that was there last time, checking out all the desks and other dogs.
While I was asleep, someone stole my front teeth, took a biopsy and cleaned my other teeth.
The others were sniffin' me all over 'cause I smelled like the Vets.
I have a hard lump in my mouth still....it'll be about a week before the biopsy results come back.
Thanks for all your good thoughts and POTP, Blogville.
SHE's sure it's working........so far.
Now we just have to wait for the results.
Oh, and I FINALLY got some FOOD,
puree vegies and minced beef.
Now where are those cheeky cats.

Christmas surprise

Us
We got a big surprise this past week.
Every year we send Roxy's foster mother and family a Christmas card.
This year they sent a card to each one of us--including HER.
BUTT each of ours contained a little gift.

They're going to look absolutely fabulous on the collars that Frankie and Ernie sent us!

(The HOT temperature has left us for awhile.  We didn't even need the air-con at all today)
Paws crossed for our friends affected in the US by heavy snow
AND
in Britain with all the high tides and flooding.
Keep safe, mates.
