Unfair situation here.....

Today, Bella and I were subjected to grooming!  We had to be  brushed, have burrs removed, scissored in some very sensitive places and clipped.  We even had our stomachs clipped because SHE says we get too many burrs, mud and sand!

Now, we're used to being groomed and though we don't like it much, we tolerate it because we know we'll get treats.

However, Roxy did not have to do anything except have a rubber glove rubbed over her.  Even we enjoy that.  But she still got treats!  We think that's totally  UNFAIR!
Bella                      Roxy                    Daisy
We think she's laughing at us...

but, tomorrow we go to the river to play with the big boys.....

And there's no way she'll get out of having a
B-A-T-H!

Kendra comes home

We realise that for some readers this may seem like a bad taste post.
But we're happy to have our girl back home.

We're not quite sure what we'll do with her.  For various reasons, we couldn't bury her in the garden and leaving her at the vets to be disposed of at the local tip was not an option.  For now, she'll stay on the shelf, sparking good memories whenever we look at her.

Just some pictures

It was all golden at our house the other night. (Boxing Day)
These pictures were taken at about 8 p.m.

Our cheap camera doesn't do it justice.

Then.....
this morning as we headed out for our 6 a.m. walk,we saw this tree full of galahs.  They're feeding on the fruit/seeds, whatever.
 SHE couldn't get very close.
They flew away.

Boxing Day

 It's Boxing Day here today.
Luckily we got up very early and went for a huge run.
Because that sky shows you what kind of a day we had today.  It just started raining when we got home.  So we've had a sleep day.

Santa Paws came!!!!

We took the picture outside because Bella doesn't show up well inside.
She doesn't show up well outdoors either...BOL!
Ooooooo Kangaroo jerky.......Good Choice!

It's Christmas Eve

It's Christmas Eve in Oz....about 8:30 p.m.  (24th Dec)
Santa Paws will soon be coming--zooming across the sky with his six white boomers!

We went to the river this morning to see our friends, but there's no pictures because someone forgot to put the recharged battery back in the camera.

We've been trying very hard to be good all day.....even lined up nicely for our after-river baths.

We've been for our evening walk, run and bird-chasing and now we're waiting for Santa Paws!

Bella

Roxy

Daisy
 So Happy Christmas everyone!
We hope Santa brings you lots of stuff!
And we hope Santa believes our stockings!

We are soooooo embarrassed!!!

Hi everyone.  The other day, Roscoe and Hannah, the Harville Hounds awarded the Liebster Blog to us.  They are a couple of Bassett Hounds having adventures in Tennessee.  We are very honoured that they thought of us.  Thanks guys.

However, we are embarrassed to say that we were awarded this award way back in August!  We put it on the back burner...and...well...we think it fell behind the stove.  It was one of those things 'you mean to do' and never got around to it.
So we'd like to say sorry to Lynn who gave us this award first and thank her!  Lynn challenges us to 'Do one thing that scares you every day' and writes humorously about all those little annoying things that cause stress in our lives.
You should drop by both blogs to meet them.

We truly are very happy that other bloggers have thought of us.
(Just embarrassed that we took soooo long to tell them.)

Kendra

Thanks everyone for your warm words of support.  We are a rather fragile household at the moment, liable to leak at any ungiven moment.
We'd love to give Kendra a glowing eulogy, how saint-like she was etc..... but it wouldn't be true.
Kendra was a loner.  Not socialised as a pup, though we tried, she had an uneasy relationship with the world.  She was a one-person dog.  Everyone else was suspect and needed to be told long and loud that this was her kingdom.  If given the chance Kendra would circle and nip at unsuspecting ankles.  She would only walk at night or early morning when chance meetings with others were at a minimum.  When visiting friends, she'd find a quiet corner and back to the wall, ready to bite  passing ankles if possible.
But we loved her.
'The bush pig'
Here are a few memorable photos of our girl.
Swamp monster--bath time.

Recovering from her 'career girl' operation with Daisy (right)

Her first haircut(???) She was very embarrassed.

Rolling--one of her greatest joys

Always nosing around in corners.

Even towards the end, she was at her surveillance post .

Trade mark wonky beard

Always on the wrong side of a closed door.

Growing old disgracefully.
She will be missed and fondly remembered by us.

Today

This morning we got up early and headed along the river to Sandy Beach.  Kendra stayed home to sleep off her breakfast.
The kookaburras were watching the river.  We hope they were looking for snakes to eat.
We hadn't been along this track for months.
It was Roxy's first time.
There weren't many people about, so we got to run free.
Then we got to the beach.
 I went for a paddle.
The water was very still.  Then we ran around.

Roxy attacked Bella and I when we left the water.
Finally, she got wet as well.
 Bella started another hole.
Naturally, it was bath time when we arrived home.  But we expect that, so we just sit and wait for our turns.
Shortly after our baths it started to rain....and I mean rain.  It poured down, lasting most of the day.  We were lucky to fit in a walk this morning.  Hope you had a good weekend.
