Thanks everyone for your warm words of support. We are a rather fragile household at the moment, liable to leak at any ungiven moment.
We'd love to give Kendra a glowing eulogy, how saint-like she was etc..... but it wouldn't be true.
Kendra was a loner. Not socialised as a pup, though we tried, she had an uneasy relationship with the world. She was a one-person dog. Everyone else was suspect and needed to be told long and loud that this was her kingdom. If given the chance Kendra would circle and nip at unsuspecting ankles. She would only walk at night or early morning when chance meetings with others were at a minimum. When visiting friends, she'd find a quiet corner and back to the wall, ready to bite passing ankles if possible.
But we loved her.

What a great post ~ Kendra was quite the character! And the pictures you have are great of her and show just how unique she was (LOVE the wonky beard).
ReplyDeleteWe wouldn't have wanted to read a nice eulogy about a saint-like Kendra... it isn't who we loved and admired. We loved reading and seeing the real Kendra today. Thank you for sharing her with us!
ReplyDeleteOur thoughts are with you.

Nice photos, The rolling, cobwebs and wonky beard could have all been lifted 1:1 from our girl Piper.
ReplyDeleteSo many before us have said it, but no matter how feisty Kendra may have been, she found a way to have you love her for who she was. That's what mattered to her. And look at the beautiful photos you have to remember her. Take time to mourn, she will be missed.
ReplyDeleteWoos ~ Phantom, Thunder, Ciara, and Lightning
Oh, gosh, we're gonna miss Kendra, too. It's okay if she wasn't saint-like. Mom luvs the saying about how you might not gets the perfect dog but you gets the perfect dog for YOU. And it sounds like Kendra Most Definitely was!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing those super terrific pictures with us. They made us smile through our sad.
Gentle wiggles & wags,

Oh my! What a fantastic visual tribute to a beloved friend & companion. Kendra was a true Scottie: faithful, stubborn, aloof, proud and protective - we've loved and lost one just the same - She'll be in your hearts .... always.
ReplyDeleteWith much love and tears from Finlay, Bobby & Gus (The Sparhawk Boys) xxxx

I sorry. Rest in peace.
ReplyDeleteShe did it her way. I do that also. We're both Scots. If anyone doesn't like it, do whatever except roll on MY dead bird.
ReplyDeleteKendra, I understand where you were coming from. I was born 2 years after you and you may have had Cushing's and I definitely have Addison's disease (the exact opposite). It is my intention to enjoy what time I have left and then I'll join you.
Hi All, that's what we love to hear. Kendra, you were special in your own way and had a family who loved you warts and all. We had a dog like that too and he was a one person dog as well. Love the cobweb face and your dear wonky beard. Love and hugs to the family. No worries, and love, Carol (and Stella and Rory)
ReplyDeleteall our good thoughts sent to you....we'll miss you sweet Kendra

I'm so sad to hear about Kendra and I'm glad she has such a long and happy life with you.
ReplyDeleteWe would hate to live in a world where only the saint-like are cared for. How fortunate Kendra was to find place of security and love.

PS from Bertie - so what's wrong with nipping at ankles anyway???

like humans every dog has his or her personality, like the ones we love we forgive them their negative points!!!..my old bull terrier had lots of challenges and problems but you learn to live with them and act accordingly..he has been gone over two years and i miss him every day, just as you will miss sweet if grumpy at times Kendra, it is a joy to read all about you all, take care of each other.xx kay and baxter..xx

ReplyDeleteR.I.P. my sweet Kendra.....~~~~Love from Sophie!
ReplyDeleteI left a message and it didn"t show up! Of course, I can't remember the clever (to me!) way I said it before, but being a somewhat cranky person, I'm told, I can empathize with your dear girl. I, however, do not bite ankles.
ReplyDeleteR.I.P Kendra. Your antics and quirkiness will be missed. Love the photos. Wet nose kisses to "Her", Daisy, Bella and Roxy.
ReplyDeleteWoof! Woof! Sending Lots of Golden LOVE. Kendra will be remembered forever. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
