August 1st

We'd like to say Happy Birthday to all the horses in the southern hemisphere!

Today is their official birthday.
We like to send out greetings to this special lady.
Black Caviar who retired from racing in April this year
 after winning 25 straight races!
Yep, 25 starts, 25 wins.
She's (hopefully) going to have a career change and become a mother in September 2014.
Happy Birthday to all the horses!  And good luck Black Caviar.
This is the only race horse whose name we know.

  4. Bravo to Black Caviar and we think it was wise to end her career on a high. Here in the UK it is the 1st Jan. Happy birthday to all horses down under. Have a tremendous Thursday.
    Best wishes Molly

    1. Every race horse here adds a year to the age on January 1. All the runners in the Kentucky Derby were 2 on Dec 31 and 3 on Jan 1. Breeders try to time it so a horse is born just after Jan 1 so that when they're 3 they're old for their age (it sounds funny but it works if you think about it).
