Every once in awhile nice, unexpected things happen.
Us:  Bella, Roxy and Daisy
Because we take long walks all around our neighbourhood and other areas, we're fairly well-known.  Well, maybe we should say we're recognised.

We often see the same cars pass us, or people walking, or in their gardens.  Most of the time, the humans just give a friendly nod or wave.  We, of course, are
 more interested in other things.

All too often, we meet dogs that have escaped from their yards...or been abandoned...or whatever.
Invariably, they are huge intact males that are called pig dogs.  Pig dogs are crosses of Bull Arabs, Wolfhounds, Danes, Bull Terriers....anything that might make a dog big and want to hunt feral pigs.

So far, we haven't had any problems.  Most dogs off leads or not in their own territory might look at us and then move off.  Some race over ready to attack and see we're girls, so they stop.  SHE usually makes us stop and then talks to the dogs and they wag their tails.  But SHE is  wary every time we meet one.

This morning as we were heading home, SHE waved to a neighbour who lives down the street as he went off to work.  We only know him to wave at and would never be able to recognise him on the street.  We noticed he turned his truck around and came back down the street.  Then we saw a huge dog across the road.

He'd come back to ensure that we would be okay.  This has happened a few times to us, people who see us every day and stop, do U-turns, or invite us into their houses....strangers who help when they see a potentially dangerous situation.
Always makes us feel good.

The dog turned out to be the usual boof head who we hope has found his way home.
Roxy did not help the situation as she was so excited at seeing a potential playmate.  We thought she'd learned something from her last encounter.
Hope something nice happens for you this weekend.

  1. I don't like the sound of pig dogs, I'd be very wary of them too. That was very good of your neighbour to make sure you would be OK.
Awww Roxy... not all dogs want to play, you take care now!

  4. That is a really nice neighbor. I am kind of a local celebrity too. Everyone runs up to me and says hello and that makes Momma kind of nervous. Anyways, have a great weekend too!

  6. That was quite an interesting story about the pig dogs. They sound big and scary. Roxy Roxy Roxy..we are going to have to put a sock on your mouth if you continue to speak to strange dogs.

  7. Yahoo for kind neighbors! I'm so glad you guys are safe.

I didn't realize you had such dogs around there. The only loose dogs around here are ones with families and we try to catch them and take them home.

  12. We're glad that peeps are watching out for your safety. Roxy needs both her ears.

We liked the idea about storing your yogurt pops in an old ice cream container. Now we're doing that, too.

  13. Oh, never heard of 'pig dogs'. They sound like they could be scary! The only loose doggies around here are family pets that got out of their yardies. Annoying sometimes, but never scary, so far. Thank God for nice neighbors! Stay safe gurls!!

  22. Awww...that was so nice of your neighbor. It's the best when peoples look out for each other like that. But gosh, that would drive my mom crazy to have to deal with so many loose dogs. Sounds like your mom handles it real well.

  24. Isn't it the best when two legged ones do nice things? I think it restores our faith in 'two legged kind'. I love it when nice things happen as it makes us all feel so much better and gives us hope that the world really isn't quite as bad as the newspapers make us think!
