Saturday morning we went to the Devil's Elbow, as usual.
It was quite frosty when we got there.
But when the sun came out, the frost disappeared.
 We love running around....especially Roxy.
I found some great grass to eat.
Roxy and Bella went ahead, to see our friends.

Then we found out that Fred wouldn't be coming.
Big Fred, the gentleman....
Max, Big Fred, Jake and Buddy in front.

had jumped his front fence at home and attacked a small white, fluffy dog who went over the bridge.
We don't know why.
But Fred was sentenced to go over the bridge, too.
We have mixed feelings.  Fred was always so gentle with us and all the dogs at the river.  He was well known around town at various sausage sizzles.  The young ranger who had to take him away was very upset.
However, we know how SHE would feel if we were attacked, so we feel sad for the little dog and his peeps as well.
It's just a sad situation all around.
Goodbye Fred.

  1. That is really sad. I am sorry that Fred has to cross over the bridge. But I am also so sorry for that poor wee doggie.

  2. Oh dear, as you say, what a sad story.
But we like the frosty grass. Cool!
    Toodle pip!

  3. If the fence were high enough both Fred and the small dog would still be with us. Some peeps get more dog than they can handle properly. I'm a handful by myself, sometimes.

  4. scotsmad....
Oh my gosh!! Poor Fred!! My beautiful "blond"-furred German Shepherd Golden Retriever cross, Shadow, who died of old age two years ago this week, once bit some neighbors' canine. Drew blood. We paid the vet bill. Our neighbors' injured dog survived.... My heart goes out to Fred's family. That was an emotional time for me, at age 17. :-(
Change of subject. Okay. I love your picture of Roxy running!! It's a little blurry, yet, somehow, this photograph is flawless!! ;op
Love, Raelyn.... And Rose, my BEAUTIFULLY UNIQUE "Mystery Dog"!!

  5. Such a sad story! We loved seeing your action shots though - that's some sprint Roxy - woofs and licks from Magic xx

  6. So sad! I always worry because Edgar had a nipping incident once that animal control was called about and is now considered potentially dangerous ...not the same situation, bit still it's all so sad & scary

    Edgar's mum

  7. Such a sad story, sadness on both sides - hugs to all the families involved.

Run, Roxy, run - we love to run too.

Woos - Phantom, Thunder, Ciara, and Lightning

  8. This story was so uplifting in the first pictures and then came crashing down so quickly! I am stunned and can't think of what to say....feel so sorry for both owners....I just hope this does happen in our world...I guess you never can tell. I have learned one thing though and that I will always be alert and aware when meeting other dogs nearby here and at the park....I think this is what I will take from vigilant, caring and loving!

  9. What a tragic story. I'm sorry for your friend and for the owners of the little white dog. Such a shame.

    Nubbin wiggles,

  10. That is a sad situation for everybody.

We do love the flying ears photo.

  11. We are so sorry to learn of Fred...and the little doggie, too. The news surely put a damper on your beautiful Saturday walk. Great photo of Roxy running!!

  12. Oh my goodness, that is just sad all around. I'm sorry you are losing your friend,.

  13. I am sorry that the bad thingy happened.
Butt you girrrrrls had a grrrreat time "down by the Riverside" and that is what is impawtant.
Ernie and I like graze on the grasses too. Delicious stuffs.
    Maybe we are twins.

  14. As everybody has said, this is a sad, sad story for both families. Lady doesn't believe in capital punishment. We believe in forgiveness and love. So sorry you lost your friend.

  15. What a sad story all around. Sorry for everybody's loss.

But otherwise, looks like you had a fun play the pics!

  16. Oh no - what a sad situation all around. We're so sorry about your friend, Fred.

    Love ya lots,
    Mitch and Molly

  17. What an awful situation all round! I feel sorry for both owners. Sometimes things just suck!

  18. Oh what a terribly sad all around situation.

  21. Howdy Girls, that is a very sad story. We're sorry for the little doggie and for Fred. We had frost this morning too. Take care friends. No worries, and love, Stella and Rory

  22. Oh we are so sad to read this, it's a horribly sad time for everyone . What a sad time for those people.

  23. Thank you for coming to visit me. I hope we can be pals. I am sorry to read about poor Fred, I can understand both sides, but it makes me sad either way. Happier days ahead for you!!

    Loveys Sasha

  24. OMD, that's terrible! Did Fred even get any due process? Was the little dog running loose and teasing him, or was it on a leash and just minding its own business? Obviously Fred's fence was not high enough; was that his peeps fault, or some dumb zoning restriction? We're very sorry for the little dog and very sorry for Fred. Damn, as mama would say.
