Yesterday morning was beautiful, so we sat outside with HER while SHE had her coffee and read the paper. Later when we went inside, Kendra stayed out--she loves to be out there so she can bark at people and watch what's happening in the street.
After a while, Kendra started making a crying sort of bark. We rushed out to see what was wrong.

We had to look closely.....
It was a baby bird.
We watched it for a while but left it alone because the last one SHE tried to nurture died in about 20 minutes.
Anyway, we're happy to report that we saw it this morning, still in the bush, but with it's parents!
Hooray for the little birdie! Good thing it was outside of the yard where you guys hang out though I guess ;)

Hi Everybuddy, Glad to hear Kendra is still on guard duty. She will teach Roxy what to do. Our mum saved a baby bird once. It survived for four weeks and then when she released it, a bloomin cat got it two days later! Oh well. No worries, and love, Stella and Rory

Oh wow, you did what I've always heard you're supposed to do (leave it alone unless it's newborn), and the parents really DID come back! I always want to rush in and help... Glad all was well this weekend, with your baby bird, and your baby bird alert system, Kendra!

I'll never forget when my daughter's dog, Bonnie, saw a baby bird and grabbed it in her mouth. I said "drop it," which she did, but then, before I could pick it up, she picked it up again and gulped it down!
