Yesterday, during our evening walk, we saw all these cockatoos feeding. They were on the low side of the river. And boy, were they ever making a racket!
Then they flew off together......still screeching!
This is what a sulphur crested cockatoo looks like close up.
SHE loves watching all the birds while we walk; but SHE has a cheap camera and can't get good pictures .
Alas, there'll be no walks this weekend. We're off to go camping while SHE and Flat George go to Sydney.

Have a good weekend, we'll see you next week!
(Thanks to everyone who offered to help us shrink our header picture--we kept clicking the Blogger box that said to shrink it to fit, but it didn't work. In the end, we e-mailed it to ourselves and resized it that way.)

ReplyDeleteYour mome and Flat George are going to Sydney??? How Cool is that???
Have a super weekend!!!!
We are like Puddles, we thought those were flower petals on the ground too. We only see those cockatoos in cages around here. How cool to see them flying all around.

Yes!! The header picture is fantastic. A long time ago our mom used to live in Pasadena near where this wealthy railroad guy, Lucky Baldwin, had built an arboretum in the 19th century. Well, years and years ago, the parrots ESCAPED and they still fly all around Pasadena in a big flock. They were SO NOISEY!! They would land in the trees and the wires near her building. She'd go outside not knowing what the huge racket was and there wold be hundreds of green birds! It was fantastic!! Have a great time in Sydney! Can't wait to see what you and FG get up to!!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to be doing a bird post next week, I might need to link you
ReplyDeleteAbigail
How smart that cockatoo looks!
ReplyDeleteDid u dash after the birds and try to catch one? We would have.
We got to chase a few gulls on the shore but never could catch any.
We will tell u all about that resort lady. She was quite someone!!!

ReplyDeleteYou guys look great in you photo now !! :)
ReplyDeleteIt is fun to be reminded how very far away you are from Darby and Pumpkin here in Southern California. Cockatoos! In the wild. And no one is putting up flyers saying "Cockatoo missing! Reward offered for safe return."
ReplyDeleteCockatoos are only in the store here....not so good.
ReplyDeletewoah those cockatoos are amazing loves and licks xxx
ReplyDeleteThose birds are HUGE! And what powerful beaks... Mom had a bird once--a quaker parrot. She hated me. It may have had something to do with the time I tried to eat her...oops.
ReplyDeleteThat's a lot of cockatoos in one place.. your girls would have a fun time chasing all of them if you guys were on that side of the riverbank :)
ReplyDeletelovely birds!
hope you have had a great time in Sydney :)
What fun it must be to see all those beautiful birds in the wild. It must be very noisy, we have just two birds and they make a racket.
