Weekend Part 2

First of all, Roxy caught a galah!

Not this galah, we got this picture off the Internet.....because someone didn't have a camera and was flapping around like a galah, yelling at Roxy to drop it!
Which Roxy did.
SHE's never sure whether or NOT it's more humane to interfere. In this case said galah sort of wonkily flew away.
SHE said there must have been something wrong with it if Roxy was able to catch it in the first place.

That was very exciting but there was more excitement when we got home.
A large labrador puppy stopped by to say hello.  He tried his hardest to get into our yard.
But, as it was Sunday...and he was obviously well-cared for, we let him go home by himself.
He was too excitable to see if he had ID on his collar.
We think he lives just a few houses away.

Then SHE had a big surprise.  A year ago SHE planted potatoes in containers.  The harvest was about a dozen small potatoes.  This year SHE planted apple cucumbers--which Roxy vetoed--zucchinis, also vetoed, long cucumbers, squash and tomatoes.  Roxy didn't bother those.
Anyway, as everything was growing, some plants appeared in the containers SHE didn't use.  As the lady bug attacked those plants, SHE didn't have to dust any of the other plants.  SHE reckoned SHE was accidentally companion farming!
Our brush is only for scale.
On Sunday, SHE checked out the containers and found these spuds!  SHE was very excited.
We weren't.....we were busy chewing our bones.
These are the remains of the first day of chew.

So as you can tell, we had another great weekend.
We've been reading about many of you enjoying all the SNOW....
or not! (Still in the high 90s here.)
We have a fish oil ad here with a clown fish like Nemo--Bella always attacks it.

  1. Howdy Girls, oh Roxy you lucky duck, er dog. Fancy actually catching a galah! You must be quick for sure. Bet the little lab pup was up for a play with your pack. Your mum can grow vegetables without even doing anything?? Our mum is green with jelly. Enjoy your spuds mates.
No worries, and love, Stella and Rory

  5. That is a very pretty bird you caught Roxy. Probably better to let it fly away though. My Trilby has caught a couple of birds here - they were sadly deceased by the time our peeps got to them but they thought maybe the birds were sick or dying anyway if a puppy could catch them. Good to see the crops your Mum harvested - it's always exciting when you grow your own. My peeps say their home grown veggies are the most expensive in the world after all the money they spent growing them - but they still do it :-) Have a fun Monday - woofs and licks from Magic xx

  7. Wow Roxy you are quick! Good thing you showed us a picture of the Galah because we didn't know what one was. Now we are educated. Nice job on growing potatos they really look scrumptious. I think I'd prefer your bones too, they look even better.

How nice you had a little lab furend stop by for a visit. I bet his Mama was worried about him.

You really did have the bestest weekend!

  10. Home grown potato's are the best - Mom can hardly wait until spring when we can get MY veggie garden planted for the season. Of coarse our Mom is mean and has it fenced off so we can't do any harvesting ourselves. There probably was something wrong with the galah for Roxy to be able to catch it...unless she used some hypnotizing special powers on it to make it stay on the ground :)

  22. You guys had the most exciting day! Mrs. Master wants your mom to know she has the same struggle when I catch things...let me finish them off or make me drop it. Typically, the deed is done before anyone notices though.

Those potatoes look FANTASTIC! Good work everyone.

  25. Roxy...I don't believe your momma when she says that the bird had to have something wrong with it for you to catch it. I thought your bird stalking technique in the previous post showed you to be a pretty savvy hunter.

Oh. My. Word!! What a gorgeous bird!! I want one!! ;)
My Rose had a bird in her mouth once.... "He" crash-landed against our sliding glass door due to escaping some Hawk. Rose bayed and bayed nonstop throughout this. As soon as the Hawk flew away, I let my girl outside, forgetting about our poor little injured bird!! Oops. Rose did not hesitate to pick that bird up!! I yelled at her. She dropped him.... ;op
Love, Raelyn.... Plus Rose, my BEAUTIFULLY UNIQUE "Mystery Dog"!!
