A message from your CFATDU..

 That's your Commissioners for all things Down Under.

 (In case you forgot.)

 Our friends Stella and Rory have suggested that we the CFATDU have a few posts about language differences.

 We thought it was a good suggestion.

  As this is Superbowl Weekend in the USA,

We decided that it was the ideal time to tell you about one difference, well two.

First of all American Football is called Gridiron here to distinguish it from our football codes.  We have Australian Rules, Rugby League, Rugby Union and Soccer.

We also 'barrack' for our teams (Loudly).

You see, friends, in Australian slang, the word 'root'  means the same as 'screw' in American slang.

 So while you're recovering from the Blogville sledding event, preparing your Superbowl parties. And root for your teams.....

 Down here, we're getting a whole other mental picture!

Have a great day, if you're like our relatives there will be much shouting and giving advice to the coaches......but enjoy.
