Last day of 2010

Today was the last day of the year.  We got up early and headed to the river for a walk to investigate the path to our favourite beach.
The river, though still high, is back to where it's supposed to be.  But it left lots of stuff around.  The fence looks like it has been woven!
Some places the fences are down and here some poor farmer's hay bales have been taken down river and dumped here.
When we got to our favourite beach, it was still under water and the footbridge was covered with trees.
Someone told us they're expecting another flood in January, so aren't doing a big clean-up.  We've been VERY lucky as lots of towns have really been flooded out!
Nothing for it, but to head back to the picnic area and car.  Then we came home to hibernate.  We're finally having some summer weather.  It was just over 100 today.  We stayed inside with the air conditioning.  Tonight we'll stay in, because we don't like the noise!

  1. Hi girls - what a beautiful walk you went on to see out 2010. We're glad to hear that you're getting some nice weather - we're sure hoping that we're moving out of winter ourselves as we miss the longer days and the feeling of sunshine on our furs. We hope you have a peaceful night - we hate all the fireworks and screaming that seems to go with them too. Humans - so noisy sometimes! Schnauzer snugles JD and Max.

  2. 100! That must be humid after all the rain. Here's hoping the next downpour passes you all by. The rains have been the #1 story on the BBC for the last two days. Happy New Year.

  4. It was on our news this morning that the northern parts of OZ are terribly flooded. They showed food and supplies being brought into one town by helicopter.
Sooooo sorry about all that flooding. I hope that the new year will be much better...
