On the weekend, we visited our friend Millie. When we came home, we found this handsome fellow hanging around our house. If you look closely you can see that his left paw is deformed. We don't know if it was an untreated broken foot, or birth defect. However, he was very thirsty and hungry. So we invited him in.
Once he had a long drink and some food, he was ready for play.
We raced around. As you can see, his tail was docked. This is illegal in Australia.
His bumble foot certainly didn't slow him up at all.
Unfortunately, he became very excited at being around us girls, so we had to be separated. We couldn't find his family or anyone who knew him, so today the RSPCA came to take him to the shelter.
We hope he can find a family soon. He was a lovely boy--just too big for our little garden AND too amorous for us girls.
No wonder he was amorous. What a huge shame he didn't have a collar and tag.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful boy! I sure hope dat he can find a new home and they will loves him to pieces!
ReplyDeleteI knew dockin' was illegal in parts of Europe but didn't knows bout Australia. Why would you WANT to dock a labs tail???? Dats silly.

My tail was docked too in Aussie. I don't know why they dock my tail. But i can still wag it very fast... Anny says that it looks like an antenna sometimes.

He's a handsome guy. Hope he finds his parents or a forever home soon.
ReplyDeleteWere getting behind in our reading, what with the demands of the Season and all. So let us just add our best wishes for the little fella. Sure hope your RSPCA is a no-kill shelter, and he finds a good family that will love him and take proper care of him, unlike whoever had him before he escaped. Can you blame him for wanting to stay: water, food and three lovely lassies. What more could a bloke want?
