Some Spotty Dog...

Refused to eat her chewable 'Heartworm' tablet.  After trying all sorts of ideas to get her to eat it, SHE put Roxy in the car.  And took her to the VETS.

I know where we are and I'm not getting out.
 Where she was weighed.
And put in an examination room.
I'm not looking at you.
The VET came in and gave her a needle to protect her against heartworm for a year.
I'm not happy
She did behave well and got some liver treats. Now Roxy will have just a worming tablet every three months, while Bella and I  have our chewable Heartworm-every other worm protection, each month.
We love our Heartworm tablets!

  1. Thankfully, Freedom, Casper & Nikki are like Bella and Daisy and love their heartworm pills...or at least they don't notice them in their kibble. Roxy, sorry but I'm laughing at your sad but defiant face. I've seen that face before at this house.

  2. BOL we just had ours on Sunday and our frontline. Usual battle of the tablets despite the fact they are tiny little bone shaped ones now. We hate all tablets. Always a battle of wills. Peeps won but I didn't make it easy. Have a terrific Tuesday.
    Best wishes Molly

  5. I am with you Roxy - I am lucky - I am allergic to those chewable squishy things - but I still have the ordinary tablets. Mom puts it in cheese for me or some yummy ham.

  6. Oh Roxy, what a silly pup. Were you thinking maybe SHE had a different flavor to offer? All our pack think of their heartworm meds as a chewy treat. I am glad that you're protected. Nice tough-dog look at the vet's office!

  10. Roxy personally I think a once a year poke is better than playing bitey hand with mom once a month. I don't eat treats out of Mom's hand so for a long time she tried smashing my heartworm pill in my Fancy Freast...MOL I found it and ate around it...she had to keep putting more FF down until I ate it all. After 87 years a light bulb came on in her head...now she puts in in my kibble with is crunchy and I don't find it just gobble it with the rest of the kibble.

  12. Perhaps Roxy will learn that chewing a tablet is a far better option than the dreaded trip to the VETS :-)

  18. I would think a once a year jab is better than being forced to eat something you don't like. Glad there is an alternative.

  19. Ho ho, we all love our monthly heartworm pill but Mom and the vet talked and decided that starting in the spring we'll get six month injections instead. He says you folks in Oz have been using them long enough that he's convinced they're safe. They'll save Mom from having to remember each month and you know how those humans start losing their mentals after a while.

  20. Gosh - Blueberry loves her monthly chewables! I am sorry you had to go to the vet for a shot though, but hey, it's only once a year and they give you treats there - so SCORE!

  25. Roxy, you sound a bit like Phantom who won't take any sort of pill. Mom has tried everything too, and finally she has to just stick it down his throat:( Maybe a shot is a good idea for him too.

  30. Roxy did not look happy at the vets at all. Fred and Gloria have Advantage Multi 100 that is a liquid that goes between there shoulder blades. It does heartworm, fleas and worms.

  34. My corgis will eat anything so it's no trouble giving them their heartworm/other worm tablet. But, Harry the cat? That's a real struggle!

  35. Who's giving odds that Roxy will scarf up a chewable heartworm tablet next month if one of the Scotties drops one? For reasons with which we will not bore you, we switched to Revolution [liquid drops like Frontline but also provides HW protection] so mama just squirts it on us once a month. We do get liver treats out of the deal.
